Juicer Parts
69
In order to live a healthy lifestyle, you will need a juicer to squeeze out the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants present in fruits and vegetables. Juicing is better than eating these food items raw or cooked for two reasons - first, the nutrients are bound to the fiber and, second, heat kills the beneficial substances.
Also, many individuals may be indisposed to eating fruits and vegetables in their whole forms. When transformed into juices, however, these individuals will be more receptive to consuming these foods. Think of small children, teenagers, busy people and the elderly who will benefit from the fast, easy and convenient way to consume fresh fruits and vegetables in their juice forms.
Wear and Tear
Just like other home kitchen appliances, juicers will suffer from normal wear and tear. The juicer parts will be worn down from regular use, tear apart from accidents and just stop functioning as efficiently as it did when it was brand new. This is true even when proper care is applied to the juicer simply because it is the nature of these manmade appliances to have a limited lifespan for its parts and then the whole unit itself.
The good news is that there are replacement parts for these juicers, be it for the citrus types or the all-purpose types. Depending on the brand and model, these replacement parts can be used interchangeably with other juicers in its category or be uniquely manufactured for a specific unit. Many manufacturers will produce juicers with interchangeable parts with the main difference between the models being the capacity of the unit.
And then there are the juicer parts that will only fit into specific brands and models. These are usually of the advanced types since unique fits are perceived as advantages in the highly competitive market of juicers. Thus, the best advice when looking for replacement parts for juicers is to write down the brand and model number before taking to the Internet to browse through the selections.
Accessories and Attachments
There is a second meaning when we say parts of the juicer. We also mean accessories that can be added to the main unit so as to enhance its basic capabilities and thus, get more value from the product. As can be expected, these attachments are optional in the sense that the basic juicer will perform its functions without the accessories, which are purchased separately. Just to name a few of these juicer parts attachments:
- Grain mills allow for a cost-efficient way to grind grains and, hence, produce organic flour. Keep in mind that the processed flour sold in supermarkets are unhealthy choices in that too many chemicals and processes have been applied to it, thus, robbing the grains of their beneficial nutrients. You will most often see claims of enriched flour to restore the lost vitamins and minerals.
- Hole screens are used for soft fruits like oranges, melons, grapes and strawberries. It allows more juice to pass with more or less pulpy goodness in it depending on the size of the screen.
- Oil extractors are attached to the main unit to produce cold-pressed oils from sesame, sunflower, hemp and flax seeds. These oils are rich in heart-friendly essential fatty acids as well as in cholesterol-busting monounsaturated fats.
These juicer parts will pay their own way, in a manner of speaking, when you have enjoyed their benefits. You enjoy an all-purpose juicer while benefiting from the healthy and affordable alternatives in flour and essential oils.
Fit and Price
When looking for either replacement parts or accessories to your juicers, there are only two main considerations to think of -fit and price. All other considerations come second since the attachments almost always perform the same functions in its category.
On one hand, you have to ensure that the parts fit the main unit perfectly. As previously stated, you have to write down the brand and model number for comparison purposes on the available juicer parts. If the manufacturer says that said parts work with your existing juicer, then it will in all likelihood.
On the other hand, you also have to take into consideration the price of the parts. This is where cost and benefit analysis comes in. For example, if the total price of the replacement parts exceeds the price for a brand new unit, then it makes financial sense to just buy a new juicer.
Juicer parts are important considerations when buying this increasingly important kitchen appliance. Not only do these extend the life of the juicer but it also provides for extended benefits for a healthier life.
